I am very guilty of not finding the time to update this blog. With so little response it has been a bit of a let down. I do plan to place final projects from our Cadre, at least the ones I have.

Welcome back to school! It seems like we just started our first days of this 9 day Cadre and the last two days will be here in less than two weeks. I am wondering how your presentations are coming along? I will be working on mine in the next couple of days so I may be post questions and information. Start thinking about posting your activities on the activities exchange.

Wow we are in day 6 already!! Almost all of us made it to SUNY Fredonia. A few glitches in the beginning with the climate and technology of course. We spent some time accessing the blog so I am hopeful use will increase. Please post your project plans so we can discuss. I will be doing something with properties of quadrilaterals. I am quite busy the next few weeks with several districts. When your world becomes hectic in September my schedule slows, for a short time, very short time. I will post more details in a few weeks.

Day 3 started with rain. The Navigator system is up and running. We suffered a long difficult test. It was very humbling! How did the rest of you feel? I have not worked with matrices in years!!

The Explorations books are downloadable on-line, thanks Jessie for the tip of looking under the "activities exchange".

I had a discussion with my friend and colleague about the small number of comments and the assumption is "math" people are less likely to blog. I know I am not a true blogger at heart, but I think we will all get more involved as we work on our presentations.

How does that go, "the best laid plans..." The Navigator system has been located! They, I believe Fed Ex, told her it was delivered to her school district in Hamburg but when they gave the zip code it was not Hamburg. After some additional searching they realized it was in Albany, yes Albany! Apparently it was delivered to a school Sharon previously held a workshop at. Next week it should be here. Everyone was very understanding. Sharon gave a preview of the Navigator system and TI-SmartView.

Remember everyone who completes the Cadre will recieve a graduation gift. The gift is a 84 plus Silver Edition Calculator and Ti-Smart-View!! We will have to work for it but the learning along the way is worth it.

It is becoming more common for districts to invest in the Navigator system. The School Improvement Program will support the new learning by hosting Navigator's New User's Group

Day 2
I am having memories of teaching first period. Maybe the sugar will kick in soon. The navigator is scheduled to be here later this morning, Christmas in July. Some websites were mentioned yesterday. TI calc has a good basics section for those of you who may feel overwhelmed. After a bit of searching we finally found the website for the resource cards. There are free downloads from TI.

Great conversations regarding parallel and perpendicular lines and geometry properties. Imagine using technology and thinking??

Day 1 started smoothly despite the lost navigator system. The good news is I finally unwrapped our system and hoping we will get it set up at lunch. We were introduced to Cabri Jr.. So much to explore!!

Texas Instrument's 9 day Cadre starts tomorrow. We are very excited to have seventeen participants from the region. Days 1 and 2 are this week. I am going to try to set up this blog for participants to use over the next few months. This is all new to me so we can learn together!
